Orlando Gunman Was a Pulse Nightclub Regular, Used Gay Dating App Omar Mateen, the homophobic terrorist who carried out the recent horrific mass shooting in Orlando, may have been a closeted homosexual, according to Pulse regulars. Ty Smith and Chris Callen, who are described as a “drag-dancing married couple” by The Canadian Press, said Mateen had visited Orlando’s Pulse nightclub roughly a dozen times, even getting so drunk that club security had to expel him from the bar on at least one occasion. While it was reported that Mateen went into a fit of rage after seeing gay men kiss in front of him, Smith said that was “bullcrap,” saying Mateen has seen plenty of men kiss before. “That’s straight-up crap. He’s been around us,” said Smith. “Some of those people did a little more than (kiss) outside the bar…. He was partying with the people who supposedly drove him to do this?” “He’s been going to this bar for at least three years,” Callen told The Canadian Press. “(He’d get) really, really drunk… He couldn’t drink when he was at home—around his wife, or family. His father was really strict… He used to bitch about it,” Smith said. At least four people have spoken to the press, confirming that Mateen frequented the Pulse nightclub. Samuel King, an openly gay high-school classmate of Mateen and local drag queen, also said that Mateen frequented the restaurant where King worked as a waiter, stating that he was friendly. Furthermore, Mateen, who had a wife and child, was relatively active on the Jack’d dating app, where he exchanged at least one message with a gay man, according to MSNBC’s Chris Hayes: Mateen, a 29-year-old private security guard, carried out the attack around 2 a.m. Eastern Time early Sunday morning. He was killed by Orlando SWAT officers after a 3-hour standoff and hostage situation. Both of the weapons used in the attack — which has been declared the deadliest mass shooting in American history — were obtained legally. usuncut.com/news/orlando-gunman-pulse-regular/So, possibly a self-hating gay man. This goes back to my question yesterday though - which is why. Why would he hate himself for being gay? We all know the answer. In the end though; if he didn't have access to the semi-automatic..

The Story of the Orlando Shooter Just Took an Unexpected Turn Omar Mateen, the man behind the mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse that left 49 other people dead and 53 injured early Sunday morning, was reportedly a frequent visitor of the club, according to a report from Montreal news talk radio station CJAD 800. Drag dancer Chris Callen told CJAD 800 that he and his husband, Ty Smith, also a drag dancer, recognized Mateen's face on TV and said that Mateen had been coming to the club for "at least three years." Smith and Callen claimed that Mateen had been booted from the bar more than once for appearing heavily intoxicated, and that he allegedly pointed a knife at a friend at one point. "Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent," Smith told the Orlando Sentinel. Speaking at the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida on Monday, Smith expressed surprise about Mateen's father telling NBC News that Mateen had gotten angry several months ago at the sight of two men kissing. "That's bullcrap, right there," Smith said. "No offense. That's straight up crap. He's been around us." Mateen was also reportedly on a gay dating app. Mateen reportedly had a Grindr, Jack'd and Adam4Adam account, according to MSNBC. ABC7 Eyewitness News interviewed a man named Kevin West who claimed that Mateen reached out to him several months ago on Jack'd: "When he first contacted me, he was saying things like, 'What clubs are popping and things of that sort, what are good places to go?' And I remember telling him, 'Oh, you can just look it up online because I don't go out that much.'" www.attn.com/stories/9136/orlando-shooter-reportedly-pulse-regular?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=internal

The Biggest Lies in Donald Trump’s ‘Security’ Speech This is presidential Donald Trump, which means he’s still spouting off a lie a minute, but he’s doing so in a cool and collected manner. Donald Trump spoke slowly as he delivered prepared remarks, read off a teleprompter at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire on Monday afternoon. This is presidential Donald Trump, which means he’s still spouting off a lie a minute, but he’s doing so in a cool and collected manner. Monday’s event had been conceived as an official rebuttal to Hillary Clinton’s candidacy, but the terror attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning, which left at least 49 deceased in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, forced Trump to change topics. In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, Trump congratulated himself for what he said was his accurate prediction that another terror attack would occur on United States soil. “Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism,” he Tweeted, “I don’t want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!” He then called on President Obama to resign and Clinton to drop out of the presidential race. He announced, in a press release Sunday, that he would be focusing instead on national security. Below are the most egregious falsehoods from his remarks. “When I am President,” he said. “America will be a tolerant and open society.” He then said that, in fact, America will be neither tolerant or open. “When I am elected, I will suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats.” “I want every American to succeed, including Muslims,” Trump said, riffing off his script. “But the Muslims have to work with us. They have to work with us. They know what’s going on. They know that he was bad. They knew the people in San Bernardino were bad. But you know what, they didn’t turn ‘em in. And we had death and destruction.” Even in the prepared remarks, Trump suggested Muslims knowingly avoid reporting other, “bad” Muslims to authorities. “Muslim communities must cooperate with law enforcement and turn in the people who they know are bad—and they do know where they are,” the script read. No evidence has emerged to support the insinuation that any Muslims were aware of the plot to murder members of the LGBT community in Orlando on Sunday. www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/13/the-biggest-lies-in-donald-trump-s-security-speech.html

Samantha Bee Rips GOP’s Orlando Shooting Response: Yes, I Do Want to ‘Take Your Guns Away!’ Samantha Bee had no time for meaningless platitudes and prayers Monday night: ‘I am too angry for that.’ Samantha Bee was not about to just deliver a few well-meaning words about the victims of the mass shooting at the gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and move on to silly comedy the way John Oliver did on Sunday and other late-night hosts are bound to do later tonight. “Well, here we are,” Bee said at the top of Full Frontal Monday night. “Now, after a massacre, the standard operating procedure is that you stand on stage and deliver some well-meaning words about how we will get through this together. How love wins, how love conquers hate. And that is great, that is beautiful. But you know what? Fuck it! I am too angry for that. Love does not win, unless we start loving each other enough to fix our fucking problems.” After putting the Orlando massacre in the context of America’s near-constant epidemic of mass shootings, the host asked, “Hey, is it OK if instead of making jokes, I just scream for seven minutes until we go to commercial?” Instead, she added, “Mass shootings have become so frequent in this country, seems like the only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is another bad guy with a gun who coincidentally came to shoot up the same place.” Bee proceeded to tear into a status quo that allows a man who has been investigated multiple times for ties to terrorism to buy a weapon that can shoot off 45 rounds in under a minute. “Who could have predicted that letting suspected extremists buy guns was a bad idea?” she asked, “other than Obama, less than two weeks ago.” www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/13/samantha-bee-has-some-four-letter-words-for-vanity-fair.htmlIn response to Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who said this shooting could have happened “anywhere in the world” and this was “Orlando’s turn,” Bee said in disbelief, “Orlando’s turn? Mass shootings are so normalized that we’re taking turns?” In fact, she said this could not happen “anywhere in the world” given that other countries without a Second Amendment, such as Australia, do not have anywhere near the problems America does. “We can’t constitutionally get rid of all guns,” Bee admitted. “But can’t we get semiautomatic assault rifles out of the hands of civilians?” She imagined the headlines: “Sam Bee wants to take your guns away!” To which she replied, “Yes! The ones that mow down a roomful of people in seconds, yes, I do want to take those guns away! These high-capacity penis substitutes are a shitty choice for hunting and home protection, but are perfect for portable mayhem.” And do not get her started on Florida Governor Rick Scott’s suggestion that the best response to a massacre like this one is to pray. “Until we as a nation find the political will to reject a mass shooter per day as the price of freedom, I’m just going to pray,” Bee said sarcastically, clasping her hands and looking to the ceiling. “Are you there, God? It’s me, Sam,” she began. “Please, bless the victims and their friends and families in their time of unspeakable pain. Give us the courage to say ‘no more.’ And while you’re at it, please send the NRA a plague of boils. Amen.” www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/13/samantha-bee-rips-gop-s-orlando-shooting-response-yes-i-do-want-to-take-your-guns-away.html

Donald Trump’s war with Islam: A campaign rooted in pernicious religious discrimination In response to Orlando, Donald Trump broadens his anti-Islam policies and casts suspicion on all American Muslims The grim coincidence of a major terrorist attack occurring just as the 2016 general election lurches to life has provided Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee, the opportunity he needed to define the campaign he intends to run: a campaign that casts the Muslim faith and its practitioners – both inside and outside the U.S. – as antagonistic to American interests. The speech he gave on Monday in response to the Orlando terrorist shooting was a relentlessly ugly diatribe that unambiguously embraced the pernicious and anti-American idea that a person’s religious faith makes them a threat to national security. I suppose I should get into the parts of Trump’s proposed policies that either don’t make logical sense or are at war with each other. Referring to the man who murdered 49 people in Orlando, Trump said that he “was born to Afghan parents who immigrated to the United States” and “the only reason the killer was in America in the first place was because we allowed his family to come here.” That led Trump to segue into a denunciation of the “dysfunctional immigration system which does not permit us to know who we let into our country.” Those two thing aren’t actually related, unless you believe (as Trump seems to) that the immigration screening process should weed out those people who are likely to give birth to people who will one day become terrorists. Of course, the way Trump squares this circle is by arguing that literally every single person emigrating from a Muslim country has to be treated as a potential terrorist, which is why he expanded his proposed ban on Muslim immigration. “When I am elected,” Trump said in his speech, “I will suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats.” That would obviously include certain Middle Eastern countries, but given how general his proposed immigration ban is, for the sake of consistency it would also have to include Spain, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Peru, India, Canada, Greece, and countless other non-Muslim countries where Donald Trump would quite happily build one of his tacky golf resorts. But Trump’s focus is on Muslims exclusively – not radicalized Muslims, but every Muslim person outside the U.S. He referred to the expanded admittance of refugees from Syria as potentially “a better, bigger version of the legendary Trojan Horse.” Per Trump, Hillary Clinton, as president, would “be admitting hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Middle East with no system to vet them, or to prevent the radicalization of their children.” It’s all fearmongering based on lies and prejudice. “We have to stop the tremendous flow of Syrian refugees into the United States,” he warned, even though the actual number of admitted Syrian refugees is shamefully low compared to European countries and far behind the administration’s already modest proposed goal. The vetting process for Syrian refugees is rigorous and lengthy, consisting of background checks, multiple interviews, and hundreds of questions, to say nothing of the separate United Nations screening process they have to go through before the U.S. will even consider their cases. After devoting the meat of his speech to demonizing the world’s global population and treating every living Muslim as a terrorist waiting to happen, Trump demanded that the Muslim population inside the U.S. get on board with his root-em-out-and-round-em-up program. But, of course, Trump’s “partnership” with American Muslims consists of threats and still more anti-Muslim incitement, portraying U.S. Muslims as members of a Fifth Column who need to be cajoled into cooperating with the authorities instead of terrorists. Muslims “must cooperate with law enforcement,” Trump said, “and turn in the people who they know are bad – and they know it.” www.salon.com/2016/06/14/donald_trumps_war_with_islam_a_campaign_rooted_in_pernicious_religious_discrimination/

The do-nothing-about-guns party: The GOP’s loyalty to the NRA rises above keeping weapons from suspected terrorists The stubborn GOP amazingly refuses to ban potential terrorists from purchasing AR-15s and other firearms In the months following the Sandy Hook massacre, the FBI received word of a New York-born man named Omar Mateen, who, according to The New York Times, had been bragging to co-workers about his affiliations with terrorist groups. During the following year, Mateen was again the subject of an investigation — this time in pursuit of allegations that he was linked to “an American who went to Syria to fight for an extremist group.” An FBI official characterized Mateen’s contact with the Syria-based suicide bomber as “minimal.” Consequently, Mateen was removed from the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database. One of many tragic roadblocks that led to the massacre in Orlando. Consequently, Mateen easily purchased an AR-15 style rifle just a few days before using it to unleash a nightmare of cinematic proportions. Throughout the weekend, with bodies strewn on the floor of the Pulse nightclub, nearly every political debate on social media and elsewhere orbited around who or what was to blame for Mateen’s act of terror, beginning with Mateen himself and descending through a crowd-sourced list of usual suspects. We’re all familiar with the roster of shibboleths emerging from all sides of the debate, but if you happened to have opposed a 2015 law, known as Senate Amendment 2910, banning suspects on the federal terrorism watch list from buying firearms, deflecting blame to Mateen’s alleged ISIS connection is probably not your best option. Making this all about terrorism, as Donald Trump has, only serves to emphasize the GOP’s inability to pass 2910. Sure, the conservative entertainment bubble will allow it. Trump will clearly dedicate his pathetic, clown-haired blurts to blaming terrorism while playing the Obama-is-a-secret-Muslim card. Rationality and logic, on the other hand, won’t allow such contradictory gibberish. The GOP refused to act on 2910 because, in the face of the National Rifle Association’s Mafia-like extortion tactics and raw spending power, the Republicans chickened out and, save for one senator, voted in lockstep, 54-to-45, to strike down 2910. The party that practically branded the concept of patriotism, along with its branding of 9/11 and the war on terror, collectively decided that banning suspected terrorists from purchasing AR-15s and the like is a bridge too far. It’s okay, of course, for your civil liberties to be annihilated in pursuit of smoking out the evildoers. Fifteen years ago, a would-be terrorist tried to blow up an airplane by igniting explosives in his shoes, and totally botched the whole thing, yet, as a result, we all have to practically strip naked before boarding an airplane. Meanwhile, in the wake of San Bernardino, where an AR-style rifle was used, the GOP chose to do… nothing. www.salon.com/2016/06/14/the_do_nothing_about_guns_party_the_gops_loyalty_to_the_nra_rises_above_keeping_weapons_from_suspected_terrorists/

So we're all aware that the Orlando shooter's ISIS phone call was just a crazy rant, right? That he had no connection what so ever to ISIS? On that call he claimed connection to Hezbollah and Al Quaeda as well - two groups vehemently opposed to ISIS (particularly Hezbollah what with them being Shiites and all). This wasn't a religious fanatic on Jihad, this was a disturbed man that wanted attention.

Judge orders injunction against the selling of Android boxes being advertised as a way to not have to pay for TV. Most legal analysts believe that's what Cable companies were hoping for as they probably cannot repay any damages the cable companies claim. www.cbc.ca/news/business/free-tv-loaded-android-box-cable-1.3633331There's plenty of evidence that these are being marketed as a way to pirate content so probably valid.

Most of the tips comes from them. Well, here in Chicago at least until they found out that the Chicago police had been profiling them while asking for their help. So what happened in Chicago will happen if Trump is president since he would start profiling each Muslims community - the very same that have helped us stop many domestic attacks.

This wasn't a religious fanatic on Jihad, this was a disturbed man that wanted attention. I think he was a sexually confused man with inner religious conflicts. He had no connection to any terrorist groups. Also, his dad, while not a rabid religious figure have also spoken out against homosexuality. I imagine in his conflict between who he wanted to be and what he felt his family would feel if they found out something just happened. I think the most damage we can possibly do to anyone is when we create a society where we spend so much resources on viewing a part of our citizenry as vile and abnormal. I mean how many gay young men (and women) have committed suicide for that reason? It's unfortunate that we gave this angry man such an easy access to guns.

I regularly donate blood and was encouraged to see so many wanting to give in light of the Orlando tragedy. It hit me recently that one question on the donation survey wipes out an entire segment of people from donating:
"MALES: Have you had sex with a man, even once, since 1977?"
Isn't it about time to drop the blood banks' ban on gah men?

This is the second time in two weeks TTICD has been major league wrong regarding terrorism. When the Egyptair flight went down he called anyone who believed terrorism wasn't involved morons; today we learn that the plane descended slowly, not blown out of the sky. This week he goes off on a Mooselim connectuon tangent and it now seems that Islam had little to nothing to do with his rage but being closeted did. This donut hole can not occupy the White House.

You would think that the anti "big gubmint" wingers that back Trump would be alarmed that he's selectively choosing which press is allowed to cover him based on how flattering they are to his message - a list that now excludes the Washington Post.
...but they don't actually care about "big gubmint" as long as it's doing what they agree with.

SACRAMENTO -- A Sacramento Baptist preacher's sermon praising the attack on an Orlando nightclub that left 50 people dead has the local LGBT community outraged, reports CBS Sacramento.
Recordings of the sermon by Pastor Roger Jimenez surfaced on the Verity Baptist Church's YouTube account.
"Are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?" he said in the sermon. "Um -- no -- I think that's great! I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight."
The remarks were delivered on Sunday morning, hours after the attack.

But it does highlight the one issue we all noticed but so many 'wingers missed - that this wasn't so much radical terrorism as a direct assault on homosexuals. It's not the only message or tweet that highlight this. Before anyone knew about the shooter there were a lot of people who more or less condoned this assault as a punishment for their wickedness. However that quickly morphed into a muddled idea of terrorism - to the point that some news sources refused to even talk about what was attacked. And now things are starting to pop up how this guy was a patron of the place.

A British Islamic scholar who toured Orlando this year and had preached in 2013 that "death is the sentence" for homosexual acts left Australia on Tuesday after the government launched an "urgent" review of his visa because of his comments.
Farrokh Sekaleshfar, a senior Shi'ite Muslim scholar, was giving a series of lectures at an Islamic center in Sydney on the topic of spirituality.
Sekaleshfar said in a lecture in Michigan in 2013 that in an Islamic society, the death penalty should be carried out for homosexuals who engaged in sodomy.
"Out of compassion, let’s get rid of him now, because he’s contaminating society," Sekaleshfar said in a talk at that time, according to a recording available online.
There is no evidence of any link between his comments and the American Muslim man who killed 49 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando on Sunday, the deadliest mass shooting in the United States.
Sekaleshfar told the Australian Broadcasting Corp that his decision to leave was voluntary and that he had not been asked to go by the government. The network showed footage of him entering Sydney airport, and said he was flying to Dubai.
"It's a decision which IHIC thought it was in my best interests and for the best interests of the community. And I didn't want to go against the committee's decision," he said, referring to the Imam Husain Islamic Center, where he had been giving talks on religion.
Sekaleshfar told Reuters on Monday he condemned the Orlando shooting as a "barbaric act of terror that was in no way justified".
Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told reporters on Tuesday he has "zero tolerance for people to come to Australia who preach hatred" and his government was reviewing Sekaleshfar's visa "as we speak".www.reuters.com/article/us-australia-preacher-visa-idUSKCN0Z00F1Basically; religious people of all stripes, including governments such as China, view homosexuality as amoral worthy of death or interference of the state. Groups like ISIS go out of their way to kill homosexuals and it's a practice that was done by the Nazis. China used to try to treat homosexuals with shock therapy. No wonder that the right really don't want to talk about this as being an assault on gay citizens. Because it's in their party platform to keep assaulting homosexuals as deviants and amoral. Not worthy of the same rights the rest of us enjoy.

hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_AP_EXPLAINER_TERROR_WATCH_LIST_GUNS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-06-14-08-57-31Imagine if we passed basic universal background checks and closed the loophole of gunshows and such along with stopping people on this list from buying guns. Only one single company showed some basic common sense; the one company the shooter tried to buy heavy body armor from. They refused him. The list has around 420,000 people on it, according to FBI figures from 2011, with records updated daily and shared with state, local and foreign agencies. Some 16,000 of its names comprised the government's no-fly list in 2011, the FBI says.
Q: That's a lot of people.
A: It is. But the FBI notes that only about 2 percent of them are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents allowed to buy guns. The rest are foreigners, many of whom are not permitted to purchase firearms here.
Q: Why can people on the terrorist watch list buy guns?
A: That's the law. Being on a terrorist watch list is not "in and of itself a disqualifying factor" for people purchasing firearms and explosives, according to a 2013 report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.
People purchasing guns from federally licensed firearms dealers must undergo background checks, and those transactions can be blocked if they fall into any of 10 categories. These include convicted felons or drug abusers, people found by courts to have certain mental problems and immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
The FBI is notified when someone on a list applies to purchase a gun, often resulting in increased surveillance of a suspect. But being a suspected or known terrorist is not one such category.
People don't need background checks to buy guns from unlicensed sellers, such as from some who offer firearms at gun shows or online. It's unclear exactly how many guns are sold that way.

Jim McGreevey lived a lie and didn't shoot anybody. No, but it's not the first confused religious person who turn their conflicted nature against themselves or others. This one just did it in a way we as a society seems fine with. Since we refuse to punish the legislators who continue to legislate against our will.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal appeals court has upheld the government's "net neutrality" rules that require internet providers to treat all web traffic equally.
The ruling Tuesday from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit is a win for the Obama administration, consumer groups and content companies such as Netflix that want to prevent online content from being blocked or channeled into fast and slow lanes.
The rules treat broadband service like a public utility and prevent internet service providers from offering preferential treatment to sites that pay for faster service.
Providers like Comcast, Verizon and AT&T say the rules threaten innovation and undermine investment in broadband infrastructure.
I am soooooo sad. I'm sure having consumers pay for a specific speed and then the provider throttling it because it's not using their services 'threatens innovation'. I tell you what; corporations are the whiniest babies. Next to politicians. How about if a company advertise a certain speed and product they live up to their promise. Novel idea, I know.

The Federation For American Reform Poll. 43% of Americans believe that immigration should be decreased. 35% believe it should remain the same. 18% believe it should be increased.
And that 18% group is probably even lower now. Swamphive is in the minority. We don't want anymore immigration.
