I would note, the only times I noticed severe numbers of bugs have always involved drives through Saskatchewan. A farming province. The most recent of these trips was within the last decade - maybe 2016? The US South has a twice-a-year problem with "love bugs," who mate in the spring and late fall. They can massively collect on your car grille and windshield. Excruciating to clean off. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovebug

Putie is the common thread in both Israel and Ukraine. Someone may suggest that these two issues would subside if he happened to, yknow, fall out a window....

Mark Wayne 'I'll bite' Mullins, claimed on a rightwing podcast, in regards to his willingness to fight, that he will bite. He'll do anything in a fight. Pull hair, scratch, bite, he might even hiss and other forms of macho behavior. He's crazy!
Why would you EVER tell someone that you're a biter in a fight. WTF is wrong with him. BTW, in order to restore his ALPHA status, he then apparently posted about it again but this time standing in front of a bunch of guns stating anytime you want to do it. You know, normal shit for sociopaths.

I assume Larian studios is doing well? I haven't played BG3 much, but I know Tina's still playing it now and again - especially since her party can walk around nekkid (that's how you spell it over there, right?) Yes, Larian is doing very well. I'm not sure I would call them a AAA studio tho. While Larian is not a AAA studio, it's an interesting question about whether BG3 is a AAA game. Apparently, their normal staffing level was 300 and they spent over 100M. Now, contemporary AAA games can and do have far larger budgets and teams, but it really wasn't that long ago where those numbers would be AAA tier...

Heh! Johnson Screwed Up We don't normally go to highly partisan news sources like Fox News or Daily Kos for news, although we sometimes go there to see the reaction of the right or left to some news story we found elsewhere. Once in a blue moon, though, we find something there that is actually news that everybody else missed. It's rare, but it happens. This appears to be one of those times. You undoubtedly now know about the two-stage rocket Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) devised for not shutting the government down now. One can got kicked to Jan. 19 and the other can got kicked to Feb. 2. Everyone is proclaiming Johnson the greatest political genius since James Monroe or John Locke. Or maybe Niccolò Machiavelli. We never saw any explanation of why two separate dates was better than one. After all, there is no agreement between the Democrats and the Republicans on anything, and also no agreement between Republicans and Republicans on anything. What difference does it make if the mother of all shutdowns occurs in January or February? Who cares if there is one deadline or two? Well, according to an item on Daily Kos, there was method to Johnson's scheme. A lot of method. It was near genius. But he blew it. The thing you need to understand is that Republicans care about some departments but not about others. They very much care about military spending, the border patrol, farm subsidies, and a couple of other items. They actively oppose most of the social spending, like HUD and education. Johnson's plan was as clever as it was sneaky. The things Republicans really care about would be extended to Jan. 19. These things had to pass because not funding them would mean no money for the military and DHS, so soldiers and the border patrol agents would have to work without pay. These things had to be funded or the Republicans would catch hell. So the plan was to make some deal on Jan. 18 to fund them, possibly at the same level as last year or maybe with a small increase. Once that was all finished and approved by the Senate and White House, the Republican priorities would be safe. Come Feb. 1, the Republicans would demand 30% cuts in the social spending and when Democrats balked, those programs would be halted. Republicans would be happy if they were never funded and would hold out for 30% cuts until the cows came home. In the end, they might not get 30%, but eventually Democrats would cave and they'd "compromise" on a 15% cut. That was the plan. It makes sense and explains the idea of the two-stage rocket. But something happened. During the legislative process, multiple drafts written by different staffers often circulate as the sausage is being made. Members propose and pitch their versions and argue about them. Horses are traded. That's how it works. Somehow, and we are not sure how, when Johnson began calling the roll on the plan, he called for a vote on a plan different from the one he had in mind. It had the Agriculture, Transportation, Veterans Affairs and HUD budgets on the group 1 (Jan. 19) along with the FDA, energy, water, and military construction. Everything else was in group 2 on Feb. 2. Johnson missed the fact that he was holding a vote on the wrong bill. It passed, was sent to the Senate, passed there too, and Joe Biden signed it. By the time Johnson realized what had happened, it was too late. Group 1 (Jan. 19) has some things Republicans want, like Agriculture (farm subsidies) and Veterans Affairs, so they will have to make a deal to pass it when it comes up again. But Group 2 (Feb. 2) has Defense and Homeland Security, things Republicans really care about. If they refuse to make a deal on Feb. 1, soldiers and border patrol agents won't be paid and their base will go bonkers. The Republicans won't be able to hold out for 30% cuts for long. They will have to agree to some deal the Democrats are willing to accept. There will be heavy-duty negotiations but no hostage situation since Republicans care dearly about some of the items in Group 2. Johnson got snookered. How did this switcheroo happen? Nobody seems to know. Did some low-level staffer fire up Microsoft Word and make a couple of edits to the bill 5 minutes before voting started? MAGAworld wants to know who the mole was, but the mole ain't talking. Maybe Johnson himself screwed up by picking the wrong bill number to vote on. Again, we don't know, but Johnson is new to the job and maybe not so good at the details. This wouldn't happen to Turtle, that's for sure. In any event, if the item linked to is true, and we believe it is, the Republicans just lost most of their leverage because there are things their base wants in both groups now, while the things the base wants most are in the second group. So, holding either of them hostage would result in serious blowback. (V) www.electoral-vote.com/evp2023/Items/Nov17-1.html

No, I always assumed it was the other way: that they were making the earlier deadline for the departments they don't care about and the later deadline for the departments they did and then they can merrily shut down part of the government in January and not give a shit for 3 weeks while they get a full package put together

It is absolutely sad that a Democrat would go on Fox News to spread lies about a protest outside DNC HQ. What a fucking asshole. I bet he's one of the assholes that sign onto censuring Tlaib. WTF is wrong with these scumbags? Read the room dumbfuck. Being cemented to a ultra rightwing regime like Israel that supports Trump anyways and is committing genocide to such a degree that it is unraveling shit in the Middle East, isn't the ally we need right now. And it won't do Biden any favors since it is having him now trailing Trump as it is most likely that people will just sit this one out.

I hope they get everything they deserve from the fascist who will be his replacement and who will probably help Israel bomb them. I will feel bad for the Palestinians though. Truth is Biden has a snowballs chance in hell of stopping the Israeli government, especially with Netanyahu at its lead from doing what they are going to do. There is no magic wand. Heard this same stupid argument when Biden wasn’t able to get student loan forgiveness through congress or the Supreme Court.

Heard this same stupid argument when Biden wasn’t able to get student loan forgiveness through congress or the Supreme Court. I absolutely agree there too. But as I've said so many times before - there are those that look at politics and there are those that just live life. Both of those exist on either side of the political spectrum and is motivated to vote based on what they think they're getting out of stuff. So yes, anyone that sits on their hands and allow Trump to win are morons and I hope I will never hear them bitch and moan when shit gets worse (if Trump wins). But that's not how politics work. We could say that about people who voted for Trump over Hillary thinking he would bring their jobs back. But the reality is that Hillary was a shitty candidate. And that is just how stuff works. I honestly don't think that to be true. Our aid is vital to Israel. There are several things in play here; Jews living in USA and Israelis living in Israel. Note the difference. American Jews are not a monolith. There are liberal and conservative jews. Right now we're driven, largely on policy, by a smaller clique of American conservative Jews AND the Israeli Lobby. Not even a massive plurality of Israelis support Bibi. Much of his actual survival lies in the hand of him constantly being the guy defending them against terrorists, and why we so often see him starting a conflict when it looks like his political winds are turning. And why Israelis have gone out in droves against his move to reduce the power of their judiciary. We have sway if we only dare using it. And that's not stopping them from defeating Hamas, but rather do it in the way that safe guard Americans in Gaza, aid workers in Gaza, the hostages and using actual surgical strikes against them. If we immediately came to their AID but ONLY agreeing to helping them on the conditions that they had to absolutely minimize civilian casualties and we would help them destroy rocket batteries and Hamas, but at the same time provide AID to Gaza AND pressure Israel to provide fresh water and electricity, you're not only securing a bridge between our actions and civilians, but also putting Israel on notice not to use this opportunity to displace all of Gaza, as they're doing, and try to steal their land. And to really put the thumb down and tell them to stop taking land in the West Bank. You can do this because Israelis don't like Bibi. They want assurance that they can keep living in safety. And we can help them safeguard them by stating that we will always support them against terrorist actions, but we will not be complicit in murder of civilians. Then Biden can point to all the people telling him to do more that he's realistically doing all he can. Aiding civilians, help root out Hamas. But in deference to the continued nonsense, he initially had a tepid response about Israel raiding the hospital, followed by an immediate retraction. That is weakness. And lets be real here. We might be the only ones here that sees the big important political picture. And why we have to get rid of the current GOP as a political entity because it is in direct opposition to any Democratic institutions in this country. They're fascist. And we need to stop Trump from ever holding political office because he is a mentally ill psychopath, surrounding himself with sociopaths and psychopaths like Stephen Miller. True Nazi type swine. But we cannot expect everyone else to be as realistic as we are. Much of that depends on actual political leadership. Inspiration isn't a one way street. It requires savvy, grit and fight. As much as people can be morons for not getting how important this is, it also requires that politician's step up and do their part and not just depend on all of us to bail them out because we realistically only have 2 choices. I heard this way less then you apparently did. Because Biden didn't just flop his hands and said 'that's it'. He found a different way to accomplish it and is working on it. He is actually fighting with all the tools he has against corpocrats and GOP and the idiots in the SC. The initial issue that he kept dragging his ass on it, saying he couldn't actually do it. But eventually all of them realized what a fucking no brainer it was and fought for it. This was one of the reasons why young adults came out in the midterm. If you don't fight for something you can't win.

It's almost like his argument is a whataboutism about something completely different. Solve one of these issues and the other is still there. That is how you can tell that they're not linked. I get that rightwingers can barely focus on one thing at the time, but for the rest of us, you could dedicate some brain power to solve more than one single thing.
And to be clear. Rightwingers aren't offering any solutions at all. They really don't care about Fentanyl. Sure, it is tragic and whatever, but in the larger conversation it only matters as a political cudgel. As you can see with the complete lack of discussing it under Trump. But when Trump isn't in power it is like immgration - the issue only exist to attack D's over.
BTW, the incapability of someone being unable to discuss many complex things, doesn't mean no one is talking about both issues. They are. And more substantive than lying about the so called border crisis.

War on Christmas comes early. Jesse Water sent someone to target to find something to be upset about. They found a nutcracker with rainbow colors. They also found a black santa in a wheel chair. The horror. There was of course also a white santa in a wheel chair, which he didn't complain about so I can only guess it is disabled black santa that is the issue. Not disabled per say.
Over the year I've collected a lot of goofy ornaments since our tradition is to buy 1 ornament each every Christmas season. Over the years I've collected star wars santa, goofy santa playing a trumpet, elvis santa etc. My wife likes snow men, so she has a number of different silly snow men. The kids has always been all over the place as far as what they've been getting.
If we didn't like something we didn't buy it. Which sorta is how shit works. And that was about it. I would object of course to Hitler Santa, or a Christmas ornament that stereotype minorities and whatnot, but we don't go to stores like that so I've never come across it. But for everything else - and there's a lot of stupid shit to buy, we don't care. We simply don't waste money on it.
Just a tip to the ever so delicate rightwingers. Bitching and moaning about everything makes grown ass people seem like stupid pre-teens on social media.

I heard this way less than you apparently did. Disagree on Biden would be able to stop the Israeli government in this, reducing aid is a long time project and while the sclerotic republicans are helping at the moment you can bet your ass they will switch in a New York minute. They are nothing if not contrarian. But ok. Absolutely, GOP is a weathervane. Oppositional to anything.
