Question, Ob: Why are you (and apparently so many youth in America, based on polling) so down on Joe for doing what every single POTUS since the establishment of Israel as a country has done: announce public support for Israel? Set aside the horror for a moment - announcing support for the country is not the same as propping up Nahoohoo.

Set aside the horror for a moment - announcing support for the country is not the same as propping up Nahoohoo. Because not every single Potus oversaw the worst atrocities against Palestinians since the Nakba. The atrocities are so obvious, so callous and so pervasive. It demands more that boilerplate language. That is not even remotely true. No only are we timidly confirming everything they say, but we're even retracting even the mildest language about some of the atrocities. It is a war crime to target Civilians and hospitals. Biden mentioned something weak wristed about not targeting the hospital and that was retracted. There is no evidence that the hospital was ever a major Hamas holdout and yet we give Israel carte blanche to continue committing war crimes by adding our own weasel intelligence assessments, eventho we have no intelligence on the ground and rely almost completely on either satellite or Israel. We even called it a command and communication - NODE. We just changed the language to give Israel our continued support for what is without a single doubt to anyone war crimes. Now a question for you. Why do you find it so impossible to challenge your OWN politics and your own party? Admitting that this is WRONG will not change YOU unless you feel that it has gone to far. Me personally given the duopoly of our political system means I will continue voting Dem down the line. And will always try to choose a progressive candidate over a corpocrat. But I feel I would be betraying myself if I also didn't stand for my values. So why on god greens earth should I NOT criticize what is wrong? I am honestly perplexed just how uncritical you are in this. We need all Democrats to put pressure on Biden so that he change the policy on that. Not just because he's right now on the losing side of history and failing greatly in this simple value proposition of humanity, but it is also propping up a terrible regime that nakedly and bluntly flaunts our support. We all should value each instance as a part of the whole. We should never blindly limit our own values because of politicians and party's. The sum of us are all the things that make us great and us recognizing our flaws makes us humble enough not to fall for narcissism and hubris. If you can't find yourself unable to criticize Biden for something you genuinely would have felt to be wrong if it was someone else who said or did it, then maybe the problem isn't me, or 'and apparently so many youth in America'. www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/poll-bidens-standing-hits-new-lows-israel-hamas-war-rcna125251And as the polling show - it isn't just me and the youth.

Avoiding going to jail at all costs 😬 Also, these awful companies are allowed to change company name and split off from the company left with the name to protect their assets and make sure no one gets more then a penny in the process. And then they can most often continue operate as if nothing happened with no consequence to the sociopath in upper management and among board of directors. Thanks to states like Texas.

Here you go FL. I watch this guy because he has a decent take on todays model social media culture. He is often funny, the production value is fairly good and he adds solid argument and logic behind his statements. Is he always right? Of course not. But he's also not into 'politics'. Most as I can tell it is about the ugly gender trends and such that has infected our different platforms.
And this is no different. He is not talking about politics per say, but rather how the different social media is used.
I would suggest that you set aside ageism for a moment, because it is certainly used against me and you when the shoe is on the other foot. Young adults view us as 'boomers' for our pov that is colored by our generation and age and we do the same to them. Personally I rather value words - intent and what people stand for. Not their age. Sure - age plays into experience and maturity, where as for my generation and above it is the inflexibility and overreliance on 'experience' rather than analysis of data. We all have generational and age related flaws.
So that is why I watch many different viewpoints ranging from professional to personal, young to old. Otherwise we will so easily dismiss things we don't like to hear with excuses like 'they're too young' or 'they're to old'.
In my family for example I often play the devils advocate. My wife don't like this and my daughter don't like when I challenge her pov. But how can we understand the full complexity of something if we so often boil things down to a dismissive argument, rather then an evaluation of all data?

Twisted metal the tv show (Peacock) is based on the Playstation game twisted metal. And honestly - it is great. It actually has a story so out of that pov, it differs greatly from the game. But the great part is that the first season lays the actual foundation for the game itself, which is more of an arena vehicle combat type game.
So we learn more about the characters and how they fit into the overall story in seasons 1s 10 episodes and then just as the season ends, it ties back to the arena aspect that'll dominate a potential season 2. And somehow I have feeling that Sony will most likely release a remake of Twisted Metal. Why wouldn't they?
I really hope there is a second seasons. The excellent cast deserves it.

President Biden, In his own words. Maybe you, like me, have been intending to read Joe Biden’s statement of his position, in the Washington Post OPINION piece? I finally read it just now, and it was worth the 5 minutes it took to read the whole thing. We probably all guessed that Biden was pissed when he called David Axelrod a prick. After reading this, I’m pretty sure it’s not just Axelrod the he’s pissed at... balloon-juice.com/2023/11/20/president-biden-in-his-own-words/

Everyone (you included) seems to think that one side deserves more sympathy than the other. That in itself is the reason why neither side can gain empathy or moral superiority. At this point, 20k dead over here vs. 8k dead over there...it's nothing more than two brothers breaking a vase and yelling to mom, "HE started it!" Honestly, what else can Joe do at this point? He's POTUS, not PM of Israel. If he didn't express support for Israel in his position, he'd be considered an antisemite and you know it. Again, that is no diff than the stance of other 13 presidents before him. Plus, we've tried regime change several times with several countries (Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, to name a few). Brilliant strategies, all 🙄 Nahoohoo will be gone soon enough. I'm focusing on getting the hostages out. They had nothing to do with this. I'm also focusing on Palestinians getting out of apartheid. They don't deserve this. Polls one year from the election don't even matter to me. ATM, every move Joe makes is the wrong one in someone's eyes. He went with initial info that IDF gave him regarding the hospital, but again, if he now said in public that he was lied to, that WILL hurt him domestically long-term.

Why do you find it so impossible to challenge your OWN politics and your own party? Admitting that this is WRONG will not change YOU unless you feel that it has gone [too] far.I have extremely surprised that you think so. Which brings me to the conclusion that you have not read any of the things I've said. I've made it clear that I detest Hamas and that I'd like them gone. And that I am constantly stating that Israelis and Palestinians deserve better. I usually write Israel first to make a point. Because as a humanist - as I've stated probably 4 times now, all humans deserve to live in peace. As for as the moral superiority claim; Jesus. What a fundamental misread. That is so far from the mark of anything that I've stated that it baffles me. Completely. Israel's regime is using the moral superiority claim; no one ever stated that Hamas ever had a moral high ground and if they think they've earned some, they certainly destroyed it on Oct 7th, except in its fervor, whatever moral high ground Israel could claim in the ferocious attack, they've completely lost it in spades due to their genocidal tendencies. The 20 vs 8 is mind bogglingly weird. First, the ratio is more like 10+ to 1 in civilians at this point. While Israel lost some infrastructure, the entire Gaza is being turned into unlivable rubble with no functional infrastructure that can sustain a large population. Right now they're down to something like 3 percent drinkable water. This is not about 'who started it'. This is about what is the off ramp. How many more dead will satisfy Israel's stated goal of exterminating them. All, half? And what will that do to our modern world if we accept that indiscriminate death toll without consequences. But worse, how will that destabilize the region? Even if Israel roots out Hamas, something else will replace it since Israel have no stated goal to actually remedy the situation. 150 years of more brutal apartheid where we simply look the other way? Why even bother giving a shit about south Africa's apartheid if we're going to ignore something worse that acts like a destabilizing force in the region. Just stop excusing him whenever he fucks up. Seriously. I hear so much bad faith arguments about why Biden just simply can't fucking put his foot down about some stuff, but gets celebrated for when he does in other policy matters. I suggest we leave the worship of politicians to the right and expect better for the ones we choose. Obama had a much more contentious relationship with Bibi and as a result Bibi was actively working with GOP to sabotage Obamas' agenda. And yet against Bibis constant fucking whining and bitching, including addressing our congress - Obama pushed through a negotiated agreement with Iran. Against Bibi WANTING us to go to war with Iran. www.politico.com/story/2015/08/obama-personal-hurt-anti-semitic-iran-deal-213181. And Obama wasn't afraid of being called names. He got it done. Even if fuckface Trump later on destroyed in and made things so much worse in Middle East. Me too, but that must include a role by USA, one way or another. Israel is not going to get it done. In fact they keep wanting us to go to war with Iran instead. I doubt Biden is going to do it, but Trump might. No it won't. His mistake was to even lend credence to the BS. He could have simply stated that we have no intelligence that shows one way or another and we will push for an independent investigation to make sure hospitals are not used like that, meanwhile we will ensure that international law is followed in protecting hospitals. He would look strong instead of weak. I didn't show you the poll because of how it will somehow determine 1 year out; but to state that you're categorically wrong in just making it about me and young adult. You can be as dismissive of that as you want, but it is clear that Israel and USA policy is WAY out of step with what is becoming a majority world wide. The whole BS in being called an antisemite is losing its bite. It has been abused on such a scale as of this conflict that no one gives a shit even. Especially now with so much alternative media outlets. Corporate and state Media outlets are no longer the exclusive broadcaster of BS. And that has taken a big bite out of being able to control the message. Here's the issue for world leaders in western democratic nations. They're not only using popular support, but they're also losing a lot of support within their party's. There's currently a silent revolt going on withing Bidens admin and he's losing major ground diplomatically. Same is happening in Germany, France, France, UK etc. In UK Keir Starmer is in trouble due to problems within Labor, due to the unconditional deference to Israel. Israel's regime isn't even hiding it. They're making clear that they're not going to limit their brutalization of civilians. And the wests inability to figure out how to support ISREALIS and to put down a red line against state sponsored terror is only hurting us and guarantee continued conflict. And the ones suffering will be ISRAELI and Palestinian civilians. BTW, don't take my word for it. Right now Israelis are protesting the regime. They are noticing that Bibi don't even give a shit about hostages and want a complete cease fire. Meanwhile Israeli police is removing signs that they don't approve of, and Israeli officials want our countries to clamp down on free speech. I hope you read this for what it is. And that you don't insult my intelligence by inferring anything about where I stand that has never been remotely unclear in anything I write. I am 100 percent on the side of civilians. Regardless where they come from. I couldn't give one single shit about two bit terrorists, be it Hamas and state terror from Israel. I have made it clear for years that Israel's rightwing regime - Bibi in particular - and Hamas need each other. Their relevance and existence through continued brutalization of civilians has always been the red thread through these conflicts. Without the rightwing lunatics that infest Israel's government and corrupt psychopathic fuckers like Hamas, the region might actually have a chance to solve this. Either as 1 state (which I hope for) or a 2 state (which seems impossible at this stage).

The other day, I saw a video where this guy pulled back the slider on a pistol (that he was holding pretty tentatively like he was afraid of). He let the slider go, likely thinking it had locked but it was very much not locked and the gun went off. And then the recoiling slider bounced back and went off again. And again. And on and on until the clip emptied. Credit to the guy, despite being absolutely fucking terrified of the gun and having the worst gun experience someone can have, he held on to that gun.
Anyways, someone asked, after it started going off, what he could've done.
I replied: when it comes to explosions, sometimes you've just got to ride it out.
That's my attitude towards the Middle East right now.

This Colorado ruling ends all possibility that Trump could be barred from the Presidency. 'Cause she's right and no reasonable person could argue that explicitly enumerating House, Senate, EC but not the Presidency would mean that the Presidency is covered under the general "officer" category. An insurrectionist is allowed to be President under the 14th amendment. Fuck. As I understand it, this applies to the primary election. Whether the same circumstances apply for the general - where he may have already been convicted - may still be a question.

Her jurisdiction was Colorado but the argument she made was "Trump engaged in insurrection, but the 14th amendment doesn't enumerate the Presidency". The conviction is irrelevant. Especially since he hasn't been charged with any crime that includes as possible sentences "disqualification from federal office" (there are charges that have that)

What is so astonishing about Elon Musk is that he has no idea what he's talking about. Here's a guy who managed to convince a bunch of dumbasses that he's a genius. For talking about stuff that under even the simplest scrutiny is wasteful BS. A guy who managed to convince people to invest in digital currency and left them bag holders as he cashed out. Elon Musk isn't dumb. He's smart enough to fool a lot of people. But he's also a moron, because in his need to adulation and constant validation, he has adopted the language of the idiots that worship him. You see something similar in Joe Rogan. How the community around these guy slowly change them. And only because Elon Musk wanted to call himself the savior of free speech, egged on by neo nazis and incel basement dwellers. I don't know what you call this; The hostages to the fake intellectualism of Elon with their slobbering Stockholm syndrome sycophanty of whatever he says, has become almost like a possessive Stockholm syndrome with Elon. They are star struck by him, and their adulation have slowly formed Elon Musks world view. Altho there's also a streak of racism here. Just look how minorities are treated in his Tesla factory. But outright replacement theory antisemitism? That seems to me the tramp stamp from his fandom.

The idea that you can have a convicted president, possibly jailed and still in charge of the executive, is wild and terrible. But that perhaps speaks to a fundamental flaw with how simplistic some amendments are written. Or rather despite everything USA has gone through, no one ever thought a scenario like this would ever be possible. That half the country and 1 major party would actively support such a possibility.

Just stop excusing him whenever he 🤬s up. Seriously.]/i]
At the risk of receiving a War and Peace reply, pls elaborate. Don't be rude (kidding). I've always argued that you have to complete an argument. Short replies always leads to lazy arguments. Most going the way of attacking the messenger rather then the argument. Nothing personal here. You're not the only one that does it. But people have a tendency to afford politicians with brilliance and inevitability when they do good stuff and 'mission impossible' when they don't measure up. I rather just we given them their earned due. We need to stop worshiping politicians as the best since sliced bread when they do good things and when they fuck up and and clearly makes mistakes, call them out on it. And not argue personal traits and shit - that's weak. But rather policy stuff. Example. When Biden wrangled his hands about the idea of say student loan forgiveness, first stating he didn't have the authority to do it at all, which was wrong - he took some shit, but (and I'm not stating you) people (not here per say so this is not an underhanded way of attacking anyone in this community, if you did you know and I personally don't give a shit) immediately came to his side and said he just couldn't. For many reasons - they said he didn't have the authority (echoing his BS) or that he would take shit from rightwingers if he did etc. And then when it was clear how popular this was, he did it. He took shit, like we know he would and GOP made a point out of fighting him. But he has so far stuck to his guns, even after the high priests on the high court chimed in. So, instead of defending stupid policy statements, he should have just fought the fight. People would attack him anyways, but it was popular with regular folks. And he did it, stuck with it and it is now a big positive in his belt. I criticized him when he dragged his feet as it made him look indecisive and indifferent. And I applauded him for sticking with it and defended him for doing it. And ultimately if the program doesn't work out because GOP gets the political majority to stop it, or he lose in 2024 and the system is still dragging its feet, then I will always defend him for doing it. We don't control the future what ifs, but we control the now. Even if it fails, you should always fight the good fight. Because it is not about winning all the time or only doing shit if it is safe; sometimes you do it to show people that you are fearless in doing the right thing. Just as a parallel. FDR was fearless in his fight to do the right thing. He even stated so in his famous speech about fear itself. But he didn't get everything done. And everything he did was not successful either. But we remember him for the fight and the vague notion of saving USAs economy with Keynesian economics, when it was arguably WW2 that got the ball truly rolling. Politics isn't about doing all the right things, or getting all the policies done. It is about pointing the ship in the right direction. Who we are 20 years from now is determined many times just with words and movement politics. Not always with magic laws that fix everything. So sitting on your hands and refusing to fight for something might be very 90's politics, but in the waves from safe times to crisis times, you need more during crisis times. Great words, great actions but fearless movement politics. Lets sidestep just for 20 seconds. What is Trump known for? Any credible analysis of his years shows that he was a corrupt, psychopathic, xenophobic President and entirely incompetent. His cabinet reflected that and the incompetence due to it defined his admin. Yet his movement, Trumpism, sees him as a mover and shaker. That he did AMAZING fantastic things. Made the country great again, the oil flowed and everyone shook in their boots. We know that is wrong, but 10 years from now there will still be a bunch of people who echo this nonsense. That is politics. Not individual laws. Not individual policies. Yes those are important. But there are thousands of laws on the books and most of us can only mentioned the big ticket items we think make USA unique. Like stuff in the constitution, feelgood stuff from the preamble, but individual laws in states that grease the machinery, doubtful. But we do understand movement stuff that MADE laws happen. Like the civil rights movement. So why do people still think that Biden hasn't done a good job on the economy? After all, it is fucking booming with inflation going down, record low unemployment. Wages going up. Well. Because people still need to be sold on it. And Biden is really bad at selling it. He might be good on some stuff like labor and I think he has done an okay job overall. But politics is perception. And movements are not fueled by bureaucrats and bean counters. I only bring peace. My arguments, as long and ranty as they can be is about me trying to avoid telling you to go fuck yourself. That is why I have nothing but scorn for people like Hey. They bring those arguments, I play by their rule. But since I value you and everyone here - I try to explain myself, even if you just see a wall of text and all I see is a bunch of eye whites as you roll your eyes. C'est la vie.

I wonder what gun that was. That's an awful design. I've heard about a few guns that were designed so hair triggered that tapping them the wrong way could set them off, or even just dropping them. But to it then continuing firing like that. Wow. Yeah, that is one of those guns with poor design and hair trigger mechanism. A gun should not continue firing like that unless the trigger is basically so poorly designed. I read somewhere (and I don't remember the country) that the police force in this country bought this gun that could go off even when you stuck it in the holster. That was a nation of extremely trigger happy cops...to no fault of their own Then you also have guns with such a hard trigger that by the time you manage to pull it, you're already off mark.

Of course not. If you gerrymander districts just to cement one party rule, then yes, it should be litigated. Duh. What an insincere statement.

I really hope that the hostage exchange and possible cease fire will happen. Regardless of what it is right now - any end to the bloodshed is a good thing for whatever reason that is.
And if there is possible aid going in, I don't care who made it happened. I will always maintain that Israelis government and Hamas need to go. Do I believe something better will come from this? Experience says no, but hope springs eternal.

But since I value you and everyone here - I try to explain myself, even if you just see a wall of text and all I see is a bunch of eye whites as you roll your eyes. C'est la vie. I'm pithy bc partly I'm lazy 😄 and largely bc I don't want my points misconstrued or lost in other points. This is not to say that I can't write a novel, but I try to be the best editor I can be. But whatever works for you - I'm not critical of your approach, just wondering how you fit so much wording into so little time LOL! Yeh, I like Joe a lot. No, I don't think he's perfect. But I think he uses his own experience + what he saw when BO was his boss to carve out things that no one thought was possible. I'm more willing to give him the benefit of doubt than I am most people for those reasons. BBB can be put back on the table (fat chance, I know) OR Joe can just make exec decisions and dare someone to stop him. And he is indeed plugging his achievements - but are MSM caring enough to listen to him make speeches about it? Few people watch C-SPAN - they want spin, and unfortunately, it's usually right-wing spin. We don't always agree (and fudge, why would we), but the respect we show each other here is one reason why I stick with it. A pre-holiday thank-you to all.
