McTurtle to step away as SML in November: MSNBC
Even if somehow the Senate flips to red (and, based on this decision, he don't think it will), he ain't leading them.

Proportionately, about the same level of "uncommitted" protest vote as Obama in 2012.

There's no way he'd do it but if Trump were to, say, offer to put a 100M deposit now and ask for, say, 90 days to liquidate assets for the remainder of the judgment while citing the complexity of acquiring debt to cover the size of the judgment when you are restricted from doing business in New York, I think the court would be partial to such an argument. It's a real plan for a real problem and a reasonable compromise. But this is the third time in a month that Trump has tried to pay less than what was owed citing total bullshit as his argument including his claims of wealth that he's now claiming he doesn't have.

Before Engoron handed down his judgment, Blob's worth was supposed to be enough to handle the judgment. Perhaps he's just not as rich as he wanted people to think.

My net worth is somewhere in the range of 500K but if you put a judgment against me, I wouldn't be able to pay 500K in cash tomorrow because almost all of that is in my house and it would take more than 30 days to get a good market price for my house. I don't think any individual has half a billion dollars in cash. To meet a 30 day judgment, you would get either a short term loan that lets you liquidate assets in the background or you get a bail bondsman who would be getting a fixed ~1% of the judgment for himself - or possibly several given the size of that judgment. If your property is confiscated, it goes to auction but the auction will *vastly* undervalue your property as there's one crucial detail: you must be able to pay cash right then and there. Which is different from, say, buying a house for yourself where you get to find a mortgage that's leveraged against the property you're buying. You cannot leverage against the property you're buying at auction. So there's legitimate reason to believe that Trump can get greater value with a structured sell off of his assets and picking which ones might have the greatest sale value. There's legitimate reason why he wouldn't have sufficient liquid assets available. And that's why a court would be partial to such an argument. And at the end of the day, Trump doesn't want to have to sell off any part of his Empire. It's HIS Empire. HE owns it. And to have a black(!) woman(!) to take it from him.... Charlton Heston never had as firm a grip on his guns.

Man, it's a bitch when the meme comes back around... I think Demand Pricing is going to bite them in the ass, especially since the current baseline price will inevitably be the floor.

Man, it's a bitch when the meme comes back around... I think Demand Pricing is going to bite them in the ass. If you're going to pull this shit, you do it when inflation is spiking as a way to say "we're doing this to keep the prices from going up, keeping more money in your wallet". You don't do it when prices are stabilizing and people are free to move to the guys who aren't ripping them off.

One question: Will this mean that lower courts' decisions won't be carried out until SCOTUS decides?

One question: Will this mean that lower courts' decisions won't be carried out until SCOTUS decides? I've heard that they don't tend to wait for SCOTUS, but who the fuck knows For them to take the case, you normally need 4 votes to hear it.... That's alarming....
