I still can't figure out how to reply to a post. There's a message but you can't add words to it. This forum has too many hidden tools. Click the quote button, add your comment then hit done.

www.cnn.com/2016/03/18/us/hubble-giant-stars-feat/index.html (CNN)There are monsters in the universe.
That's the description of stars photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope, which took a shot of the R136 star cluster and revealed nine stars more than 100 times the mass of the sun, according to a statement from spacetelescope.org.Wow Thanks, MrO. I'm a big fan of celestial p0rn.

@ TIME there were three posts on its MMR....
One meaningful comment about the terror attacks.
This post: Biafrans are descendants of Gad the son of ERI who found themselves forcefully amalgamated to a total strangers in the eastern part of niger-area(nigeria) by the british whose agreement on the said union had expired and are subjugated to killings, maimings and arrest by nigerian government.Support the restoration of biafra as a sovereign state.
The third said "Hot girls" with a web site.

MS is winning. Instead of the 'hard to control' zone we had, he now have a no control full on troll invasion. The fact that the comments went from the hundreds per day to near zero should tell MS and crew that they shouldn't have responded the way they did without our input. They responded to our cries by killing the site. Sucks for them.

Here's a portion of that "meaningful" comment:
"...only the innocent got killed, the terrorist is sleeping well and unharmed, liberals are happy!"
You GO, TIME!

Actually, I believe there were suicide bombers involved so the terrorists are very much not well and unharmed though I will not dispute sleeping.

I am with the others who stated that the MMR's will be history soon.

Sounds like that seventh church from Revelation - they were neither cold nor hot. As God spit it out, so doth we.

Maybe he just doesn't give a shit, and we didn't help the page at all - or not enough to get his attention, anyway

s author=" Outsider " source="/post/304/thread" timestamp="1458642904"] Saw that this am; in retaliation for the guy getting busted in Brussels, or planned already, do you think? I agree it was a little of both. Still unfortunate that this could happen in Syria and no one shrugs any shoulders.[/quote] I understand what you mean by "no one shrugs". It is true, I think that the world becomes weary. But keep in mind that we human beings are wired to pay attention to events that affect people we love, first and foremost, and then people we know, and then people we have heard of... My very best friend in the world has been visiting her mother in Belgium and is currently trying to drive from Brussels to Amsterdam to catch a flight home to the states, since her original airport of departure was just blown up. You can bet that I am paying very close attention to events over there right now, more than anyplace else. Which brings me to the thought that the talk I went to on Sunday has so much relevance. It was given as a part of a series presented by National Geographic. This talk was by photojournalist Ami Vitale. One of her messages I feel, is that you are able to "see" people, (and their life, love hope, despair), and ultimately to care about their circumstances, when you are able to actually see them. She began as a combat zone photographer, but decided to photograph the human story she found in the homes, kitchens, nurseries of the people being bombed. It was a powerful presentation. We could use more photojournalists like Ami Vitale - and editors who support them.

I was just going to post that. It is sad for his family. I just saw this on HuffPo and was about to post. Safe for his family, indeed. But...cancer? Really? The guy (ab)used drugs and alcohol like a rock star, and he dies of...cancer? Unreal. Abusing yourself usually means that other things kills you. Heart problems, liver problems, even cancer. The use of alcohol and tobacco greatly increases the chance of things like cancer and other ill effects. It's seldom the drug that kills you, but what it does to your body. Ironically however it was his fat. He had 'fat' cancer - cancer that started in his fat cells. Most likely as a condition of what he put himself through.

ISIS takes responsibility for the bombs. Shocked? Not one bit.
Look at the history books and let us know who'll remember you beyond the murder, torture and trite violence. Even Djengis Khan accomplished more than just deadly rampage.

This is such an important point. For better or for worse, we tend to feel more deeply about people we "know," whether that's through an actual relationship with them (friends and family) or a perceived relationship (those we know something about, feel we can understand, have something in common with, etc.). We in the West feel an obvious kinship with Europe, while places like Mali (also the site of recent bombings) remain part of that "mysterious other." Add to that the fact that the Middle East has become very much "stereotyped" in American minds – Israel=good, Arabs (Muslims)=bad. Despite all our entanglements in the ME in recent decades, we haven't bothered to learn anything about it. We can't tell the various countries apart. We know almost nothing about the daily lives of people (they must all spend their days making bombs, right?). We STILL don't know anything about Islam (the difference between Sunni and Shia? There's a difference?). We can't even wrap our minds around the fact that Iranians aren't, you know, actually Arabs. It's so much easier to hate people we don't know, or to feel indifferent to them. And it's certainly easier to fear them. Ignorance is a warmonger's greatest ally.
