FL, sorry your vaca met Lee 😬 hopefully, there won't be much wind damage stemming from it in NS. BTW, my fave college football team is in Boston this weekend - no talk of any cancelation, but winds will likely be in the 25 mph range. Should be fun....

In a senate hearing about book banning, the senate GOP showed just how much they love freedom. By reading some of these TERRIBLE books that will destroy our youth. They had this Max Eden guy, a bullet headed DB from 'American Enterprise Institute Research Fellow' claimed that there was this FINE line towed. That the book banning was this surgical thing to remove some of the worst youth destroying stuff. Which explains the wholesale removal of all kind of books - like bios of famous black athletes. Very surgical. It seems like the actual surgeon, Doctor Mengele, seems hyper focus on trans stuff and books by or about brown people.
Funny that.
Some of the excuses given by the bullet headed sociopath was that people could theoretically read out loud from the books and therefor children, allergic to diversity, could listen in and have an allergic reaction. Like getting meat sweats. Hives. short breathing. Tingling sensations. Also, there are words, like fisting, butt plugs etc discussed in these books (probably just in one, but that excuses the removal of all that black and brown icky stuff). And there's absolutely no way any kid will ever find out about any of that elsewhere. In fact that is famously included in the traditional birds and bees discussion all parents have with their kids.
The best parts were of course the oh so concerned aging grandpa GOP senators reading passages to people there, such as the Illinois secretary of state, responsible of passing laws that PROTECTS libraries from the avarices of idiot rightwinger banning all kind of books. Like when the corn poon astro turfing John Kennedy, slathered his best southern accent on the idiot biscuit. It is hard to tell why he was confused about the big words used to defend 'not banning books', considering he went to Yale and is a Rhodes Scholar. But who knows - maybe the rightwing brain rot set it.
So he read, with his corn poon astro turf accent, about butt plugging (with penis and anus), just like gramps used to do at bedtime.
GOP makes it sound like these books are read out loud by 'grooming' teachers and perverted students. No evidence. Maybe in grandpa corn poon feverish mind tho. I can guarantee that kids these days probably learn more about these things from the internet before they ever read these words anywhere. If they ever read anything.
The best part is of course that while reading out loud from these books, they have now told kids that this shit exist in books. And probably will make some kids read them.
Good job.

Texis residents have been in Stockholm for so long they don't know that they shouldn't have to take this. It is also a question of gerrymandering. It takes over 60 percent to tilt those gerrymandered districts. The power of the arrogant legislative is often because they know that it takes almost a miracle to change. See also Wisconsin.

Quoth the raven, "Noemore." What else is new. They call people on the left perverts and morally depraved, just because we don't make so much BS about 'values' and 'morals' none of us can live up too. We rather look at policy that helps everyone, which is the only measurable value there is. Who gives a shit about what happens in your neighbors apartment as long as it is legal. I rather ensure that everyone in my neighborhood are safe and protected. And that we all have the access to the things we need to prosper. But not the right, they make everything cultural and about morals - because they do not have the policies to make people better. They rather just invent moral ambiguity and criminalize behavior, because it is cheap and arbitrary. Look how they are fawning over a racist, corrupt asshole cheater like Trump, with the scum sucking family he had infiltrate our political system, and then how they are trying to smear Joe Biden with their fake ass campaign against Hunter Biden. Hunter might be guilty of some shit, but it is peanuts compared to the kind of corruption we've seen from some rightwingers children and particularly the family around Trump. So when these sociopathic fascists start yammering on about Bill Clinton or Hunter Biden, I just dismiss them. If they can't live up to the same moral veracity or care about shit like that when it involves rightwingers, then why the fuck should I care. Remember how Hey used to come in here, trip face first down the stairs and declare outrage over shit that was so evident among his precious GOPers and especially Trump. Then once confronted by the evidence of it, while lacking any way of proving what he was stating (that he read over at breitbart or some place like that), he went all 3 monkey's like he couldn't see it. Selective, trollish morals. If you don't stand for anything, you're nothing. And if you only stand for opposition to something, but not what you oppose, you have nothing to say. And these are the assholes that legislate peoples lady bits and how the rest of us should act and behave. Fuck em all.

For once, the Senate was working well. The Appropriations Committee passed all 12 of the required spending bills with bipartisan support back in July. The full Senate was set to approve a “minibus” spending package of three of those bills this week, which would fund the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, and Housing and Urban Development. In fact, senators agreed to bring the bill to the floor in a 91-7 vote early Thursday. They had an agreed-upon set of amendments, equally divided between the two parties, ready to be approved as a block. Enter Sen. Ron Johnson, who just had to show the world that the obstructionist House Freedom Caucus has nothing on him. When Appropriations Chair Patty Murray asked for unanimous consent to adopt the amendments package, Johnson objected and effectively shut the Senate down for the day, since it can’t move the base bill until amendments are approved. The Wisconsin senator’s rationale is, well, not really rational. “This place is completely out of control, completely dysfunctional,” Johnson explained incoherently after totally disrupting the functions of the Senate. The dumbest man in the senate, says the out of control, controlled process, is dysfunctional, after he completely and dysfunctionally, halted the entire process. And just as with Tubman - he's not doing it because of any long held beliefs. Just because. He cannot, just as with Tubman, articulate a good reason. But he can, like Tubman, throw up platitudes. You know, wokeness. Or in this case - taking a process that was working, and take a giant shit in the machinery, while pointing fingers at everyone else. So both these assholes can tell some of the dumbest people in USA, that they're doing something.

It is hilarious to see the idiot right, try to take young dumbass conservatives and convince young voters, who are now moving left in droves BECAUSE of the rights inability to address their concerns, by simply adding a bunch of brain dead young adults who spout the same dumb talking points that never convinced young people before. It is the same Fox News, I got mine, kick down and kiss up, shit they've been selling to old people and my generation, repacked with young people. And this has been rejected en mass by a far more media savvy young generation. There's a reason why Ben Shapiro and the like have been relatively unsuccessful in expanding conservatism among gen Z, and only among the incel young men. And that is because they're dismissing wholecloth everything that gen Z worry about.
Their future.
And seeing these idiots rebrand the same shit over and over, with young well dressed faces, only HIGHLIGHT the stark 'get shit done now' among gen z. The right keep arguing for people to take a sleeping pill and ignore the start reality gen z is inheriting, by building this fantasy of a world that does not exist.
Dismissing concern about health, about guns, about the environment and especially about how our higher education system functions now and what the future is for gen z. A gen z who can barely afford even the shittiest apartment and see no ability of upward motion in life.

I keep forgetting how annoying it is to setup a new computer. Ironically I got used to how quiet my other computer was. It has liquid cooling. So does this one. But the new one also have 2 large fans on GPU, 2 additional one blowing it out the side of computer, 1 huge fan blowing it out the back, and 3 fans for the liquid cooling at the top. The 2 additional one at the bottom, one the power supply and another just for extra. Also, how dependent you get on auto saved logins and passwords. Cause setting all of them up again, including this site, was a DOH moment.

It seems GOP is not changing and there's no apatite from the establishment to fix it. Honestly, the establishment GOPers might not be total lunatics, but I don't think they care if it turns into straight fascism or not. Their agenda of much lower taxes and hyper militarized police and security lines up perfectly with the drool pits.

And I had saved everything to my external HD, but some stuff is still annoying. Particularly stuff that requires 2 factor identification, and approval on my Xfinity app, but sure, it is way easier than 10-15 years ago. Still annoying tho, no matter how much I slice it and dice it. Also, Microsoft really wants your data and they do not want you to use chrome. Twice did it ask for me to consent to me monitor where I go and what I do. First during the setup of Win 11. Then when it sync'd my phone with my account for easy verification. Almost identical, except wanting access to my contacts and text. WTF? And finally as I wanted to download Chrome it REALLY wanted me to stay with edge, questioning why I had to download it since Edge had it all. Jesus, the thirst. Why not do what other companies do, install cookies and steal all my data anyways. Fucking corporations. You want my data; pay me.

I love customer that never pay on time, wanting to not pay late fees and then want to talk to billing right away that is not in on weekends and hangs up on you mid sentence as you explain what you can do for them.
People are lovely. This lady needs some humility since she clearly does this over and over. Being mad at me because she cannot pay on time is so silly.
Not to shame people; there are those that have a lot of financial issues but still need internet.
