Of course Ben Shapiro defends Russell Brands. Just like he excused Kaney Wests antisemitism until he was called out on it.
It is always a political litmus test first, values and integrity second, eventho they cloak all their BS as values first. And you wonder why they fail to capture a more social media savvy Gen Z.
Ben and some other idiots think the 'timing' is suspect. The media companies that released the reporting on it is in England. England has far more stringent defamation laws. The whole investigation took over 4 years so it's not something they cooked together in the last minute like some of the BS here.
People keep forgetting that life in other nations exist outside the idiot bubble in USA.

Of course. House GOP unveils budget with trillions in cuts to Medicaid, food benefits, and more House Republicans unveiled a budget blueprint on Tuesday that proposes trillions of dollars in federal spending reductions over the next decade, specifically targeting Medicaid and federal nutrition assistance for steep cuts. House Budget Committee Republicans' new resolution also calls for the establishment of a "bipartisan debt commission" to examine and propose changes to "the drivers of U.S. debt... such as Social Security and Medicare." (Social Security does not, in fact, contribute to long-term federal deficits.) "MAGA Republicans are driving our nation towards a costly government shutdown because they want to make cruel cuts to everything from healthcare to education, and this MAGA Budget doubles down on their extreme cuts," Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.), the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee, said in response to the new proposal… www.rawstory.com/house-gop-unveils-budget-with-trillions-in-cuts-to-medicaid-food-benefits-and-more/

Trash will always be trash. Not so long ago I posted a video about peoples perception of intelligence. That people who don't know always overestimate their knowledge and people who know shit always underestimate. It is the same with margie and her fungible ideas of morals, intellectualism, etiquette. That is why people laughed at her when McCarthy made her a speaker for a day and she tried to enforce decorum. Because her enforcing something she only believe in when she think it matters makes her a laughingstock. And that is why it is pointless to try to play nice with bomb throwers and idiots. Trying to uplift a conversation to YOUR level is wasted on people who couldn't care less. Play by their rules and tell them why you do so.
Plus dress code is just classism. None of these assholes deserve to be treated special because they call themselves Senators and House reps. They might dress fancy, but they're actively ruining peoples lives for politics, in service of scumbags. A suit won't change the color of their soul.

And barely anyone will read it. GOP will buy it in bulk to end up on a top 20 list or something, but it will be entirely astro turf. I'd believe it that she wrote it herself if it was a fill in by number book with included crayons. But a memoir? Ghost writer for sure.

Florida is undergoing a public school 'brain drain' – and it's all Ron DeSantis' fault: columnist Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has quietly moved away from much of his anti-woke crusade, swayed by tanking poll results that suggest his campaign to become president is in big trouble. But a columnist wrote Wednesday his policy shift has not altered his conservative attack on his state’s education system – and it’s created a severe “brain drain.” “DeSantis has enacted multiple 'educational gag orders' that criminalize classroom discussions of race, gender identity, and ugly historical realities that might make white students 'feel guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress,'" wrote Kali Holloway in The Nation. She went on, “The end result is an exodus of teachers, and what Florida Education Association (FEA) head Andrew Spar has called “one of the worst teacher and staff shortages” in the state’s history.’ Spar said teachers across the state have told him they want out of the career, beaten by encroaching right-wing politics and threats of legal action if they inadvertently teach the wrong thing – coupled with low pay. Halloway reported that, in January 2019, when DeSantis was sworn in as governor, the state had 2,217 teacher vacancies in K-12 public schools. In January 2023 it had 5,294 and, in August this year, 7,000. The exodus from public schools is reflected in higher education. His takeover of the state university New College, filling its board of trustees with his allies, drove 40 percent of faculty to quit. DeSantis has shrugged off any suggestions of an impending educational brain drain,” wrote Holloway. “ Of the New College faculty departures, he said, “If you’re a professor in, like, you know, Marxist studies, that’s not a loss for Florida.” www.rawstory.com/desantis-education/

Not only did Jim Jordan start up lying in the hearing - not unusual for JJ, but he then skedaddled when his ears started burning. Unbecoming for sure, but it is not like he has to worry about his seat and his entire selling point to the people who pretend that their votes matter, is that he's some kind of strong jawed Alpha. Eventho when called out he turns into a stammering mess. So once it was Eric Swalwells turn, JJ decided to run away from the hearing itself since he was being called out for defying a subpoena himself. You know the shit he says Garland should be held in contempt of congress. You see, rules for thee, not for hee.

Florida is not the only state having this issue. It is happening all over red states. They're incapable of holding onto talents. That is why they're now hiring people that have no teaching experience. What will happen is that serious companies will weed out candidates from these states.

So Alexander Graham Bell's vacation home was in Baddeck, NS on Cape Breton Island. He favored Cape Breton Island because it reminded him of his native Scotland. Fun fact: the Appalachian Mountains - which extend through Nova Scotia - are also the same range that makes the Scottish Highland (as well as much of Spain) separated by millions of years of plate techtonics.
Anyways, after he and his wife passed, his daughters donated much of his stuff to "the People of Canada". Canada set up a museum in Baddeck.
As it so happens, I'm currently in Baddeck knowing none of this other than there was some museum for Bell randomly in some town on a not-that-populated island. We also thought nothing of the fact that this motel is called the "Silver Dart Lodge" with a restaurant called "McCurdys". As it so happens, McCurdy was a codeveloper with the Bells amongst others and pilot of the Silver Dart, a prototype aircraft that became the first to fly 1km amongst other achievements in 1909 (developed on Bell's estate in Baddeck)
The Silver Dart was sent to the Canada Space Agency but in the early 21st century, some enthusiasts wanted to rebuild the Silver Dart for the centennial. To be allowed to fly, it had to have a bunch of extra safety features adding an extra 25% to the weight, but they were able to offset that with a stronger engine and were able to successfully fly it on the centennial. This replica was donated to the museum.
One thing I found interesting about it, though, was that Bell was critical of early aeronautics for lack of safety, with many pilots on these prototype planes being killed or badly maimed when things went poorly. So his solution was to do a lot of his early prototyping on unmanned and manned kite-like systems with these complex structures that would string many kites together that he could then test things like propellers on. One of his co-developers was then recalled by the US Army part way through their work and assigned to work with the Wright Brothers..... where he promptly died in a crash of one of their prototypes.
Going to Bell's more famous invention, one of the reasons he was the perfect man to figure out voice transmission over the wire is that his father had developed techniques for teaching deaf people to speak and Bell built upon that work as a teacher (helping several of his assistants and his future wife)
So, yeah, that was my morning....
