At this point, prosecuting the son of the POTUS when he's already corrected the reason why he was charged in the first place seems awfully superfluous. We all know Blob will use this against Joe whether Hunter is acquitted of all charges (as I suspect) or not.

The free speech myth I get tired writing about this, but it’s one of the most pervasive myths in American life. The myth is that something called “free speech” is a sacred social and legal value in American life, so much so that pretty much every other consideration should give way to it, no matter what the cost. That basically nobody believes this is illustrated by the outrage de jour about the presidents of Harvard, MIT, and Penn all failing to condemn genocide with sufficient vigor, or more specifically, to make clear that anyone at their institutions calling for the extermination of all Jews in Israel/Palestine would be violating the codes governing student, faculty, and staff behavior at these places. Two things strike me as worth noting about this. First, I’m not aware of anyone at these places who has actually said all the Jews in Israel/Palestine should be exterminated, so these “calls for genocide” remain purely hypothetical. Rather, this is the sort of typical reductio ad absurdum/parade of horribles/slippery slope argument beloved of college sophomores in late night dorm room arguments, and the silly-clever inhabitants of op-ed pages, social media, etc. Second, the EXACT SAME PEOPLE who have spent the last several years shrieking about how “every point of view” should be entertained at these EXACT SAME INSTITUTIONS, because of the unspeakably sacred value of Free Speech ™ and Intellectual Diversity ™ are now outraged beyond words — not literally, unfortunately — at the idea that the presidents of these places might show the slightest hesitation in making it perfectly clear that certain ideas are not only something that should not be expressed inside these Temples of Free Speech Absolutism, but instead are quasi-crimes, that should lead to the immediate discipline/expulsion/firing of anyone who should express them.To be perfectly clear, I think that any person who expresses the view that all the Jews in Israel/Palestine should be murdered, to the extent such persons actually exist on university campuses outside the fevered imaginations of the guardians of Ivy League rectitude, should be subject to severe administrative sanction, depending of course on the time, place, and manner in which this view was expressed, and after appropriate due process. But then I’ve never subscribed to the view that universities should be “open to all views,” because that view is itself absurd, idiotic, and inimical to the central purpose and function of universities. www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2023/12/the-free-speech-myth

Bet he was hollering ‘Innocent!’ and laughing all the way to the bank. Considering the complexity of the case, working the equivalent of 4 months is believable and not inherently suspicious and I don't know the going rate for expert witnesses on accounting or real estate but I believe that's not abnormal for the bigger name legal firms.

199k jobs were created in November per USDOL/BLS. Unemployment rate @ 3.7%. My mental threshold for normal for America is 4-6% and for Canada is 6-8%. Both US and Canada are holding below the minimums of those ranges. There may be a technical recession, but I think inflation, not recession, is going to continue to be the driver of people's pain.

Oh Comer you human shit stain.
Either you are that fucking stupid and honestly given all the dumb moronic shit he says, I might lean towards that, or he's just an unprincipled hyper partisan turd. Possible both. The whole case against Hunter Biden is nothing but partisan politics. Because their God of rotten brain is indicted. Everything is tit for tat, not right or wrong. And Comer, being a fucking tax cheat himself should recognize the hypocrisy.

The interesting part is not that Trump lies. He basically says something anyone with a half a brain can check for itself. Anything he says that might be true is completely accidental. It has always been in his nature to make shit up.
Like with the gag order. Both of which has been reinstatement. Yet Trump says the latest one was largely upheld. No it wasn't. It was more focused, but that was already expected since our Justice system abhors vague or broad statements.
Trumps also claimed in his TROOTH that the J6 committee deleted or destroyed most of their documents. Which of course didn't. Only Trump is the destroyer of docs here.
He says that anyone can say 'violent' stuff about him, which they don't. Maybe some rando on the internet because Trump is about as likable as crotch rot. And since everything is basically projection, he is claiming that the only way he can combat mean things done to him, is by being mean back.
I can't for the life of my understand why anyone would pledge an ounce of their money or energy to support such a pearl clutching turd. You gotta be a basement troll and idiot to find any of this at all likable.

I found this fascinating. It is similar to here. Where you have rightwinger declaring fiction as fact because they can. With no data to support it and the opposite existing in the world right now.
It looks to me, given what we see from rightwing governments around the world, that the right has lost all connection to reality and invented an alternative based purely on the idea that if you say it, it is real.

So we've heard for a while now that these retail theft gangs is a menace and it is largely attributed to 'liberal policies' eventho there are no policies in place that either reduce the presence of law enforcement or laws that makes retail theft a minor offense and therefor inspire thieves to go on a theft rempage. This has then been claimed to be the reason why some retail stores have closed and that the lobbying arm for the retail industry says 50 percent of all lost merchandise is because of retail theft. And our Media has built this narrative of thieving gangs bum rushing stores and stealing them blind. It turns out that they're now coming out stating that they perhaps overestimated the actual retail theft. NRF, the retail lobbying arm, had previously worked with politicians to pass laws that increased the punishment and broadened the scope of offenses. All based on the complete lie about how much retail theft there is and something apparently politicians and Media took for granted without investigation. So a bunch of private companies, such as lobbyists, major retails and private security, have worked to make even the smallest offense into a major crime, under the guise of run amuck retail theft. And increasing the ever presence of our police and most likely also increasing the profits for private prisons. www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/us-retail-lobbyists-retract-key-claim-organized-retail-crime-2023-12-06/Will Media own up to their part and correct the message? I doubt it. It has always been the policy of Media to sensationalize small shit and new normal radical departures of what is normal. Such as a candidate for office that want to turn us into a fascist state and our Media can barely shrug. But Biden being old cannot be overstated over and over as our economy keep breaking records.

At the end of the day, the fundamental claim James Comer has is that China thought it was worth spending 1.5B to bribe Joe Biden 4K and Joe Biden was willing to be bribed for 4 days salary. At least the claim about Russia was to give Trump something he couldn't buy: the White House

At least the claim about Russia was to give Trump something he couldn't buy: the White House And that is the crux. What they're claiming isn't even reasonable when you look at it in the corner of your eyes. The fact that even Media is poking fun of it tells you how unreasonably stupid the ask is.

Spoke to my dad. Apparently he's preparing to be an emergency expert witness after the previous one suffered a health issue. He starts reading through her original presentation, the first section is an almost completely citing his prior work.
(BTW: he's retired but we're shocked when he *actually* retired so it's a little hilarious that he's working again)
