Joe's speech was highly effective, just like last year's SOTU address. I know it won't, but it should alleviate any questions about his ability to lead.

Alaska Airlines flight lands in Portland and is discovered with an open cargo door www.koin.com/news/alaska-airlines-safety-concerns-cargo-door-pictures-portland/amp/This is freaking weird. There were pets in the cargo bay who all survived with no evidence of harm which suggests it happened either after landing or immediately prior to landing. No alert was raised to the cockpit which shouldn't be correct - unless the system is a pressure monitor though that doesn't sound sufficient. The door itself opens inward so the mechanics of the failure aren't obvious. I don't know ...

Looks like the menace came up with the money to appeal the E Jean Carroll judgement. Wonder how much of his squirming around is because he thinks he can get away with not putting any money up because he is special. Trump posts $92 million to appeal E. So at the end of some runways is this section of weak asphalt that's meant to intentionally collapse when a plane enters it. The idea is that in the case of a plane not breaking in time, it's better to have the hard deceleration of the collapsing pavement than to have the plane escape the airport and end up on a highway or something - see Air France Flight 358 where the plane landed in inclement weather, the plane landed late, the copilot (who was pilot flying) forgot to deploy the reversers (the Captain actually triggered them after he realized), and the plane ran right off the end, into a creek, and if it had gone just a little further, it would've ended up what was, at the time, the largest and busiest highway in all of North America. I mention this because it looks like what may have happened is that this plane turned late and its left main gear entered the collapsing section which imbalanced the plane causing the gear to collapse completely. It's still *way* too early and this is my conclusion based upon a couple of pictures and an animated map but....

United is having a no-good, very bad week: ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/united-airlines-rough-week-somehow-165320847.htmlNote, with one exception, these are a collection of incidents that aren't that important but boy do they look terrible when they all come together Incident 1: 757 suffers an engine failure over the Pacific Ocean on route to San Fransisco from Hawaii. Now engine failures do happen though jet engines have very rare issues with their engines - compared to prop planes which is a factor in why Cessnas are one of the few things to have fatality rates higher than cars (also that there's only one, and that there's less enforcement of maintenance standards especially on privately owned planes). However, the regulations around commercial aircraft are such that losing an engine in pretty much all scenarios is actually accounted for. In the case of twin engine planes, we have ETOPS ratings which say that a plane is certified to fly X minutes on a single engine and that no plane should ever be more than X minutes from a safe landing option. There's a lot more to it and X minutes is dependent upon model (I'm guessing a 757 has an ETOPS 90 cert though I can't find it) but the point is: it's not concerning because we have built a system specifically for this happening Incident 2: Flames shooting out of an engine during takeoff in Houston. This happens *ALL THE TIME*. It was a compressor stall that they traced back to bubble wrap on the runway. When you monitor aviation, you see compressor stalls maybe every 2 weeks in the continental US. It's really common. Absolutely terrifying for passengers who don't know but it's a non-story. Compressor stalls happen when the various moving parts in the engine don't quite align and start scraping against each other. In many ways, it's the airplane equivalent of grinding your gears (for those who've driven stick). Much like grinding your gears, its because some parts of the engine are moving at different speeds from other parts of the engine. When might this happen? Well, if you increase the speed of your engines too fast for the system to adapt. Like during takeoff. Or maybe something interrupts the connection and so you have one part speeding up and the other isn't when they reconnect. Literally happens all the time. Incident 3: a wheel fell off during takeoff from San Fransisco, totalling two cars as it fell into a parking lot. Now, totalling two cars is a relatively unique part of this story but this is not an unheard of thing. All you need is not enough lubrication on the wheel during takeoff. There's this amazing video from like 3 years ago of a Dash-8 taking off somewhere and one of the wheels is just sparking the shit out of everything and when the plane leaves the ground, the wheel just keeps on rolling along the ground. Anyways, the thing to note was on the Dash 8, that landing gear had 2 wheels on it. There's 6 wheels total on the Dash 8 and it had lost 1. It still had 5. Bigger planes have way more wheels providing way more redundancy. It's not a concern. Again, looks scary, isn't really. Incident 4: today's runway excursion. We don't know exactly what happened, but it doesn't look like an equipment failure - at least not until it left the runway and a gear collapsed but that's somewhat expected. That's not really on United as a company at all (may be on the pilots) and yet, after the ugly week.... yeah ---- Incident 0 since it was actually last week but there was an NTSB announcement this week that it warrants a deeper investigation. A rudder control on a 737 MAX became very stuck during landing. Preliminary testing of the device included a thaw test - they freeze it simulating high altitude temperatures and then monitor its performance as it thaws. It *FAILED* the thaw test. And if you know about the 737's accident history, this makes you sit up very stiffly. Why? Because the 737 line previously had a rudder control problem that caused two 100% fatal crashes in the 90s that couldn't be attributed to anything until a third incident where the pilot successfully recovered and reported a stuck rudder during final approach. The thaw test was built for this incident based upon the comments by the Captain when they realized that it might be related to the temperature. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-03-07/boeing-737-max-under-investigation-over-recent-rudder-failure

So Margie had another interruption at the speech SOTU yesterday? I didn't watch it. I am heartened that Biden brought some fireworks so he can put to rest some of the BS.
I bet margie is less liked by her colleagues than say Santos and Cruz. She entirely forgettable in the sense she will ever provide anything for the movement. She just makes noise. And she's so stupid that you can tell who else are stupid by who think she's awesome. It is like fly paper. It attracts other idiots. And later on when Biden is pressing flesh with people there after the speech, she forced her in between other Senators and congress critters and spat 'SAY HER NAME'.
This is apparently about the woman who was killed my a migrant. And she cares so much she put on a t-shirt and other dumb shit, but doesn't care enough to secure the border for another 9 months. Meanwhile people could theoretically be killed by these 'migrants', but that doesn't matter as much as always shout SECRUE DAH BORDUR! as an excuse why they can't do anything.
So pathetic. Trying a second time to get her mug in the toobs like that. Self promoting turd muffing.

I watched some of her speech out of curiosity. And I remember watching better B movie acting in the 80's from the barbarian/fantasy/after the nuclear devastation movies. In fact I'm pretty sure the pron movies from the 80's and 90's did a better job when the plumber came to fix the kitchen sink, or that lady forgot money when ordering pizza. The cringe was sooooooo deep.

You can tell that our Media is fundamentally really shitty at delivering fact based news, when polling before the speech shows that only 30 percent thought that Biden is moving the country in the right direction (CNN forum) and after over 60 percent.
That is partly a failure of the WH and its messaging. But also a huge part of it, is our Media that is hyper focused on Bidens age, while ignoring the scrambled egg brain of Trump.
And where Trumps so called policies are mythologized and the fact that he had so many scandals and disasters during his 4 years that are more or less forgotten. He instead can ride the usual wave on 'America focused', where as Biden has been painted as a dithering old man.
Now the right is whining about how he had to be on something and he was mean.
Our Media is an absolute failure. In focused on squirrels and narrative writing. Very seldom on core issues that people want and need.

Which is worse, not cooperating with regulators when you're in the spotlight or being so fucked up internally that you don't realize you're not cooperating with regulators? www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/boeing-says-no-documents-found-737-max-9-key-part-removal-2024-03-09/Wednesday, the NTSB bitched about Boeing not cooperating with their investigation highlighting two things missing 1) The names of the team that removed the bolts. Boeing immediately handed over all 25 names but they said they first heard the request last week. NTSB reports to lawmakers from early Feb indicated that they were asking Boeing for those names 2) The required documentation logging the removal of the door. Boeing now believes that this documentation was never created. Ok, sure, but why didn't your team look at the packet sent and wonder before Wednesday and ask "wait, where is that document?" Does Boeing not know their own procedure?

So here's how I see this: MSM: Admin isn't doing enough messaging Admin: Reaches out on SM, press gaggles with POTUS MSM: Still ain't enough Clear to me that people who aren't engaged are forgetful. Biden has always been a little bad at messaging. I would say Dems are bad at messaging. They generally get to technical (I did this and that and this and that and we passed super hard bill to remember that did this). That's an issue of proper soundbytes. GOP open border. A very single lie. Counter; we did try to resolve the border issues, GOP rather kiss Trumps ring that resolving it. Simple. Our Media is more interested in narratives. We should keep in mind that they love a horse race because it makes them more money in having both sides spending a lot of money. We've seen our Media go from fact based (sorta) to punditry, so we get more speculation than we get facts. And it is usually sound bind drive. Like Biden looks old and confused. Yet we see efforts like this and suddenly Biden is on some drug or ANGRY. We might not be able to win that fight with Media, but you don't drive the conversation by sitting in the backseat. And this admin - with this as the starting shot, need to continue driving home the message. Short, sweet, energetic. The ONLY thing GOP has right now is the border issue. It is fake. But just as they keep screaming DAH BORDUR, D's should counter it with - we tried. In fact we pretty much gave them everything they wanted and they decided to let orange menace destroy the deal.

Republicans lie all day, and their messaging seems just fine 🤷🏾♂️ It is always easier to message a lie by keeping it short and stupid, than to explain success without explaining why. Open Borders and high inflation are simple soundbites. It is far harder to explain why none of those are true. That the actual facts are harder and more nuanced. And finding an effective soundbite other than calling them liars, will always be harder. I think the open border can be countered with 'we tried, but GOP decided to torch the bill who gave them everything they wanted. They keep moving the goal posts. It is almost like they actually don't want a solution. As for the abortion up until birth...'that's just stupid. There is no such BS - abortions are made safely up until x weeks, no doctor or healthcare provider, including mother would terminate a pregnancy like that. That is simply lies and anyone who peddle that shit are insincere. The facts are most Americans like their freedom to choose and are entirely ignored by the cult of forced birth on the right. As for Inflation. 'I don't know what they're talking about. Inflation is the lowest among western nations. And if the prices are not going down as quick as they went up, it is because companies are talking advantage of the situation.' The last part will never happen. Because D's are just as dependent on corporate money as GOP. But yeah, it is always harder to soundbite in the factbased direction. Liars will continue to lie until they're exposed.

Trump is just such a scummy dumbass. Sure, the idiot right falls for it all the time. They're morons. They have well established that it is more brawn than brain. Trump on the other hand think he can scam the court system the way he scams them. Like begging for delay in the defamation suit, while having a post dated bond in his pocket from March 5th. He was just dragging his ass in order to see if he could get some kind of stay, while already having secured the money.
Which of course the court noticed.
Trump have never been a smart man. He just knew that being rich affords him more venues than being poor. And it looks like other then Judge Cannon, most other normal judges think he's a fucking asshat. Cannon will continue to risk her continued career by being a simp. With any luck she will never advance and get relegated to the dust bin of all the fucking morons that sucked up to Trump.

Stupid runs so deep that I don't think he'd understand reality if it fish slapped his fucking face.
Never drink the pond scum. Make other people drink it. If you're going to run on Biden being lost in the mental forest, then do so. But don't hit every single tree in there. Don't go full retard.

The substantive stakes of the 2024 election Are not, as you may have been reading, whether an 81-year-old or a 78-year-old will prevail in November, but whether liberal democracy or authoritarianism will: The idea that Trump is only out for material gain and doesn’t believe in anything is pernicious nonsense. He’s been celebrating brutal dictators his entire public life — it’s his core value. www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2024/03/the-substantive-stakes-of-the-2024-election
